“How does anyone ever learn this stuff?”
An American boy once found a Chinese newspaper left behind in a San
Francisco park. Looking at the characters on the paper he had no idea which end was up. “How does anyone ever learn this stuff”? , he thought to himself. “This stuff”, is our heritage and our culture. Helping Americans “learn this stuff” is our livelihood. It’s not enough that we are enthusiastic about Mandarin. If we can’t convey that enthusiasm in a format that our students can relate to, then we’re like the English idiom, “preaching to the choir”. In other words,
we’re not reaching the most important group of
our students. Like you, we at IQChinese have the same kind of passion for the Chinese language. Our goal is to help those that teach and learn Mandarin do so in a way that’s easy, enjoyable and effective. Never be afraid to try something new and more importantly, don’t ever lose your passion because you’re not reaching the majority of your students.
